Tackling Projects

Some of us do projects around the house, be it gardening, home repairs, redecorating a room, cleaning out an attic space, and the list goes on. I can make a list of things I would like to accomplish in the house and the husband makes his list of what he needs to do, but my problem is always procrastination, especially on big projects that I need to do. I emphasize, NEED to do, but I don’t always want to do them. And the ones that need doing are the ones that I put off and put off, for years!
Well, I finally tackled one of those that needed to be checked off the list, the table, chairs, and cabinet on the screened in porch. The chairs had gotten so discolored I wound up covering them up with slip covers for a couple of years until they began to drive me crazy.
So, I sucked it up, planned my attack and just went for it. We had a lot of leftover paint for the siding of the house, so I decided to use that. I liked the color and because it was for outside use, I thought it might help protect the furniture from the weather.
All I had to do for the preparation was to wash the furniture, let it dry, then paint. It wasn’t as bad as I had envisioned it to be. The paint went on very smoothly and covered the ugly chairs well. It needed two coats, but I finished the project in 3 days, and it looks GREAT! No more ugly chairs and one big project is checked off the list. And that feels good.
